Diary 2009
January
Well eventhough the month is not yet over I felt it was important to make a start on the 2009 diary. Firstly thank you very much to the kind people who have sent donations to help with the costs of repairing the haybarn, there will most likely be a proper fundraising event at the end of the Spring to allow for rebuilding costs but at least enough was donated to pay for the area to be made safer and a temporary shelter to be put around the hay until the end of feeding season.
The big news has started early this year and that is that on the 6th of the month Travis travelled to Co Tipperary to his new home. He has gone to join Victor who was left on his own due to the untimely sad passing of Snowflake. Keep all fingers crossed that the two boys become good buddies and that this can really be the start of a new life for them both.
February
I don’t think anyone would possibly disagree with me that February was very very cold indeed, none the less life had to go on as usual here with feeding, etc. We did get one new resident this month, Tim Tim, who came from Cottage Rescue in Co Tipperary, a handsome young man who quickly made his mark on the herd to claim top position ... I’m not sure whether it was the cold weather or just a lack of interest by the others that his transition to the new leader was so quick and unattested and I don’t think he cares why it was such an easy task for him as he is too busy and proud now leading ‘his’ herd around the woods, etc. Here is a photo of him when he arrived at Cottage Rescue, afraid I haven’t remembered to bring the camera down to take a photo of him here yet but I must do because he is much more handsome than he looks in this photo.

Normally the updates for each month don’t get done until the end but just thought it was worth mentioning for anyone who has a love and/or interest in goats that a page about the Burren Feral Goats has just been added to Clare Animal Welfare’s website.
