Our Goats

2008 and early 2009 were good for us on the rehoming front which made winter feeding less
expensive than the previous year much to our huge relief, of course with less to look after it also
meant that the work was not as severe on cold weary human bodies either !!!

We have also, where possible, helped people to rehome their own goats and/or strays
directly thereby eliminating the need for them to in come here which reduces any stress they may
go through by moving, settling in and then moving again. “Stress”, I hear you say, well goats are
herd animals which means that each time one goes off to a new home or a new one arrives
the whole herd goes through a re-shuffle to sort the pecking order ... a bit like a general
election the one who fights the strongest wins and the rest of the candidates are graded by
their performance ... of course we all know that the strongest and loudest is not necessarily
the best candidate to lead when it comes to governments and people but because animals are
more in-tune and honest with each other the best ‘man’ for the job does come out on top !!!!
With winter 2009 now underway we are thankful that we have only 4 goats currently at the
sanctuary and it would be nice to think that this number would stay the same for the duration
of the season on account of all the other species now here relying on us to nourish and
care for them ................. One can live in hope can't one ;o))
