Our  Resident  Sheep

We decided it was about time we gave a dedicated page to our sheep, it would be quite insulting to them if we were to bundle them in with the goats really ;o))

Raymie was the second lamb to ever arrive into our care, he had been attacked by hooded crows when he was only a few weeks old which resulted in him becoming blind. The farmer decided to see if a rescue would take him in and so we were contacted by his local rescue to know if he could come to us ..... naturally we couldn’t refuse :o))

Here is a photo of him when he first arrived in 2007, then a photo taken in April 2008 and then how he looks after having his first ‘hair-cut’ ...... handsome ain’t he :o)))

In April 2008 we welcomed 3 new lambs to the sanctuary, two of them orphans and the other little girlie, who we named Flossie, who was born blind.

(Unfortunately little Flossie fell victim to an attack from the blasted hooded crows, who were relentless in their efforts this year, from which she didn’t recover much to our deep regret.)

Shelly & Shirley are two devils in disguise and their antics are the cause of much amusement for all of us and visitors alike.  Shirley in particular is more times out and about looking for human attention than in the field where she is supposed to be with Raymie and Shelly.  All feed, even the dog and cat food, has to be kept locked up from her and we have all learned how to get out of our vehicles quickly and quietly and into our homes before she appears to greet us and see if we have anything her stomach would like a sample of. The words “oh Shirley” are heard very frequently and she is often threatened we phrases such as “I’ll turn you into lamb chops” ;o)))

Here is a photo of them from May 2008, more photos & stories of them as they grow will follow as time goes by.
