“Hi, I’m Shawn and This Is My Life”
The 18th of June saw me arriving here and although I’m still not quite sure who decided to bring me to a Goat Sanctuary I’ll not be heard complaining as since my arrival I have received lots of tlc and food. My little face is all sore and scabbie from orf so I had to be put into isolation as it is highly contagious to other animals and humans too. Thankfully it hasn’t stopped me getting hugs and reassurance.

Well it’s the 25th, a full week has passed already and I have to say life is looking up. My orf is getting better with each passing day and so hopefully soon a decision can be made as to whether to see how I get on running with the goats or if another little lamb will be gotten to keep me company. If it is decided to go with the latter then action will have to be taken soon before all the lambs in the area have been sold off.

Today is the 16th of July, sorry it has taken so long to give you another update on my progress, you must bare in mind that nothing ever happens fast when living in the countryside :o)) Anyway I am delighted to say that since my last update I have greatly improved and word is I will only have to stay in isolation for another fortnight, yipppeeee :o))) I was given a horrible worm dose last week, apparently it is a good thing but I sure as hell didn’t find anything good about the taste of the stuff.
I have heard rumours that I may soon have one of my fellow kind joining me but nothing has been confirmed yet so we will all have to be patient I guess for a more formal announcement .....
To finish I decided as it has been a while since I was on here that I would give you guys some extra photos of me so that you can see how well I am looking these days ........... ; o))
August 6th, well the rumours were true, my new buddy arrived today, his name is Raymie though when I lay my eyes on him first he looked more like an ‘obey-me’ and I reckon I ran a few miles to keep out of his way during our first few hours together ;o)) People often comment on how us sheep are a bit light in the brains department, by gosh I thought there was some truth in it after seeing Raymie walk into the wall of our shelter a few times but when I stopped running away from him and took a proper look at him I noticed that the poor guy was blind. I don’t run anymore from him as I know now that he only follows me because I am his eyes and that by following the sound I make when I move he can find his way around safely.

The 14th of September, veterinary advise was sought today because I was wobbly on my legs and had difficulty in getting up from lying down. As it isn’t long since my last vitamin/mineral dose the vet said that I was best left alone to see if I had just strained a muscle or if there was something else underlying that was causing the problem. It was pointed out by the vet that my life may not be too long due to my miniature size as my organs would not be properly developed. All fingers and toes have been crossed in the hope that the vet’s prognosis is wrong..........
The Final Chapter
The 10th of October very sadly saw Shawnie bid farewell to this lifetime, no more calls to be heard upon opening the door, no more chats by the fence or hugs goodnight. Thank you for allowing me to be there for your final hour, sleep tight at the bridge sweet friend, until we meet again :o((
This page will remain in place in memory of Shawnie and all others who die before their time as a result of neglect and cruelty inflicted upon them by the hand of man.
